How CGM sensors work
Interstitial fluid measurement
The Vixxa 2 sensor measures glucose levels in the interstitial fluid — the thin layer of fluid surrounding your cells just beneath the skin. This is a well-established method used in all modern CGMs and correlates closely with blood glucose levels.
Why the upper arm?
The back of the upper arm provides a stable, low-movement area with consistent interstitial fluid flow. This location minimises compression artefacts from sleeping and delivers reliable readings throughout the day and night.
